Holiday

TRAVEL CLINICS

We are currently offering travel vaccinations.

We offer appointments with our Practice Nurse for travel vaccinations.

Ideally, we require at least 8 weeks’ notice before your planned travel. In the first instance, you will be required to complete a Travel Vaccination Form (see link below).

Please email the completed form to hiowicb-his.stpeterssurgery@nhs.net or print and hand into the surgery.

Travel Vaccination form

Your completed Travel Form will be reviewed by our Practice Nurse, following this they will contact you by phone to discuss your travel plans. If necessary, an appointment will be booked for you to attend for your vaccinations.

Which vaccinations will I need?

The NHS has advice and guidance to help you get the most out of your holiday.  Visit the NHS Fit for travel destinations guide for further information - choose the country/countries you will be visiting and make a note of the required and recommended vaccinations.

Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription, and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.

Please note only the undernoted vaccines are available on NHS Prescriptions:

  • Hepatitis A
  • Typhoid
  • Diphtheria
  • Tetanus
  • Polio

Available vaccines - Travel vaccinations

Some vaccines are provided by the NHS. However, those that cannot, can be offered by CityDoc.

Check any medication Restrictions

Have you checked if there are medication restrictions in the country you’re travelling to, or if you might need a letter to support having medication on board in cases like allergies or insulin? Have a look at the NHS guide and ensure you check with your airline if you aren’t sure.

Flying after an operation?

Make sure you check with your GP or Surgeon any precautions you may need to take and have a look at these guidelines for an idea.

Private Travel Clinics

If you submit your completed Travel Vaccination form less than 8 weeks before you travel and are unable to wait for our next available appointment for vaccinations (some vaccines may need to be ordered), you can attend any Private Travel Clinic—charges will apply at these clinics.
